Roland J. Lewis became the co-founder and Director/Principal of The Education Academy after a thirty-one year career as a public school educator. His love of children and strong desire to make a difference, coupled with his high energy level made launching a successful second career a rewarding pursuit. His actions reflect his philosophy that all children are worthy and should be afforded every opportunity to be successful.
Dorothy E. Lewis, co-founder of The Education Academy was the inspiration behind the school. As a highly regarded Special Education Teacher in the public schools, she clearly saw the need for a program catering to elementary-aged children who were unsuccessful in a public school setting. Her warmth and caring for both pupils and staff has created an environment whereby our school is more like a family rather than an institution.
Together, Ron and Dot built a legacy that they hope will stand the test of time. In the words of William James, Philosopher, “The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.”
