Dear The Education Academy Family,

I wanted to introduce myself as I am the new School Guidance Counselor for the 2020-2021 school year at The Education Academy.  My name is Mrs. Cynthia Quinn, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to be your child’s school counselor. I look forward to working closely with all students in the areas of personal awareness, social-emotional learning, and academic development. I strive to engage students in activities that will promote positive interpersonal knowledge, improve attitudes, and promote valuable life skills. I will guide students in making healthy decisions, set reasonable personal goals, cope with difficult and stressful situations, and overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving academic and social successes. The focus of learning will be a collaborative effort of students, teachers, and parents/guardians to promote a positive school experience.

A little knowledge about myself is that I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and attended West Chester University.  I achieved my undergraduate degree in Psychology and continued with a Master of Science in Education/School Counseling.  While I was completing my Master’s Degree I worked as an Applied Behavioral Therapist with children of special needs.  This field of work solidified my passion for working with children of special needs. That passion led to successful completion of the Applied Behavior Analyst Certification program at Penn State University to become a BCBA Consultant.

New Jersey became my home about ten years ago and I am so happy to live by the sea.  I am an avid beach person and love the ocean. I currently reside in Manahawkin NJ with my husband of 11 years and two daughters who attend Stafford School District as a 5th and 3rd grader.  When my children were younger I had the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and work part-time with special needs children.

Working at The Education Academy is a wonderful blessing that merges my love of children, educational background, behavioral studies, and experience into a work of art.  That art will be created into lasting relationships of positive guidance and commitment to your child.  Please feel free to reach me at any time with questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Mrs. Cynthia Quinn
